Over the weekend, Ukrainian forces claimed to have successfully destroyed a cutting-edge Russian stealth fighter jet in a drone attack. The target of this strike was the Su-57, a supersonic fifth-generation jet that is known for its advanced capabilities and rarity in combat situations.
According to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency, the jet was tracked to an airfield located nearly 600 kilometers away from the front lines of the ongoing conflict. Satellite images released by the agency revealed evidence of the attack, including craters from the explosion and distinct fire marks where the Su-57 had been stationed.
A senior Ukrainian security officer highlighted that the northern front in Kherson has seen significant improvements in stability, attributed to the acquisition of more advanced Western weaponry and the authorization to utilize them for targeted strikes within Russian territory. This development has enabled Ukrainian forces to initiate local counterattacks and reclaim territories previously seized by Russian troops.
One notable success was reported in Kharkiv, where a Ukrainian commander disclosed that they successfully repelled a second offensive launched by Russian forces. This achievement underscores the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian military operations in pushing back against Russian aggression.
