Ukraine vs England prediction: Harry Kane to score a brace and conquer Rome

The semi-finals are in the horizon but first England must conquer in Rome as they face Ukraine at the Stadio Olimpico.

Ukraine are the outsiders here at 8/1 with Grosvenor Sport while England are the heavy favourites at 2/5 and a draw after 90 minutes is 7/2.

The Three Lions have had a solid campaign in the tournament, conceding zero goals, boasting the best defence in the competition and Harry Kane has finally found the net.

Gareth Southgate has fallen for some criticism in this time for not starting the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish but considering has utilised his role as an impact sub, it is fair to say that the England has silenced those critics with his approach.

Southgate's opposite number is former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko who has guided his home nation to the quarter-final after seeing his side put in a number of performances but missing results.

They managed to beat Sweden in the round of 16 but struggled to grind out results in the group stages losing to the Netherlands and Austria.

However, their attack threat is there and should not be underestimated but Southgate's defensive work is on point at the moment - they identify the threat from Ukraine going forward then there will not be a problem.

Tips

  • Harry Kane to score at least two goals - 13/2
  • Jack Grealish to assist - 11/4

England captain Harry Kane was relieved to finally get off the mark in the tournament when he scored against Germany - you could see how delighted he was with it in the post-match interview.

But now that Kane has scored once, he will want goals two, three, four and more to come.

Ukraine's defence are leaky - they have conceded six this summer and are prone to a mistake or two. The combination of him, Raheem Sterling and possibly Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden or Jack Grealish is enough to put any defence on edge.
