Ukraine v England Euro 2020: Bristol bar wants 'no more incidents' after chaos at England v Germany match

A bar in Bristol is hopeful of no more 'incidents' after chaos erupted in the wake of the England v Germany game.

The Three Lions defeated their old rivals 2-0 at Wembley, to secure a tie with Ukraine in the quarter finals of Euro 2020 tomorrow night.

Staff at Allstars Sports Bar, in Bristol, will hope there's not a repeat of the scenes there on Tuesday when beers were thrown and bar furniture damaged as excited fans celebrated.

The bar, in Queens Road, also temporarily closed early after the match.

A spokesperson for the bar said: "We can't predict what is going to happen. We'll do our best to make sure that does not happen again but we'll be showing every game and, hopefully, no incidents will happen.

"We shut the place briefly after the England game on Tuesday because we had to clear it out, but we didn't shut completely, we re-opened an hour later. We should be showing every single game that is on."

Videos from the venue show a crowd of England fans jumping up and down, chanting, singing and shouting as Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane led the nation to victory.

One fan who was at the venue and captured the scenes on camera, but asked to remain anonymous, said: "It was chaos. Fans were celebrating, there were chairs on the ground, table legs were broken and drinks were flying all over the room - I was soaked in beer.

"At the end of the game, we were all kicked out and told the bar was shutting despite the Sweden vs Ukraine game about to begin.

UEFA's medical advisor Dr Daniel Koch has responded to concerns some gatherings of football fans for championship matches could lead to a rise in covid cases.

He said on Thursday: “It cannot be totally excluded that events and gatherings could ultimately lead to some local increase in the number of cases, but this would not only apply to football matches but also to any kind of situations that are now allowed as part of the easing measures decided by the competent local authorities.
