Ukraine president's website goes offline after he addresses 'heroic' nation and brands Russia 'sneaky'

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a rallying cry in the early hours of Thursday morning (March 3) telling Vladimir Putin's Russia in no uncertain terms that Ukraine would not be overtaken. With his country under siege through aerial bombardments in several major cities, President Zelenskyy addressed the nation and claimed Russian attackers would be 'destroyed everywhere'.

The president was quoted on the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's web site as saying: "Ukrainians! Every invader should know: they will not get anything here. No one will be conquered. Even if they can accumulate more equipment and more people, it doesn't change anything for them. They will be destroyed everywhere".

Mr Zelenskyy also said his country had resisted Russia's "sneaky" plans and he said he was proud of his "heroic" country.

"We are a nation that broke the enemy's plans in a week. Plans written for years: sneaky, full of hatred for our country, our people," said President Zelenskyy.

However, shortly after his address on Telegram, his web site www.president.gov.ua appeared to be offline with access to it timing out. A post on his personal Facebook page regarding the address also proved inaccessible, meanwhile.
