ROHTAK: Fourth-year student of a Ukrainian medical college, Naman Atri spent two snowy nights without food in the warzone. Atri said the Indian students were advised to reach the Romanian border on their own. Once there, there was no official from the Indian embassy to provide them with food and shelter.
“We had to buy bus tickets on our own, and even after our escape from the warzone, there was none to provide us food, water or mobile-recharging ports at the Romanian post. Hungry and thirsty, I spent two snowy nights standing in the open. My feet were numb. Those who fainted, got no medical aid.
The Ukrainian soldiers at the border would scare us with guns and not let us cross unless someone from the embassy came. They also pushed some the girls and pulled them by the hair,” he said.
