UK wildlife at high-speed – in pictures

High Speed Photography : A Bumble Bee hovers around a flower

These stunning action shots were taken by photographer Dale Sutton, who uses special flashes that flash at just a few thousandths of a second. With human reaction times simply too slow, Dale uses a pencil-thin infra-red beam that, when broken, triggers the flashes and his camera to capture these brief moments in time.
The vast majority of Dale's photographs are taken in the wild, except for some insects such as grasshoppers and crickets, which he will carefully capture before staging a scene in his studio
