UK wildfire warning as fourth heatwave set to grip country

  • Forecasters have warned that the UK could face "exceptionally severe" wildfires across the south and east of England this week.
  • The country is preparing for its fourth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures anticipated to reach 35C in the South East .
  • Amber and yellow heat alerts are in effect, and the UK Health Security Agency has cautioned about potential health risks , particularly for vulnerable individuals.
  • These conditions follow an exceptionally dry June, leading to parts of Wales declaring drought status and much of England experiencing "prolonged dry weather".
  • The Met Office indicates that the risk of exceptionally severe wildfires will be highest by Wednesday in areas including London, the South East, and eastern England.
