UK weather: When will the rain stop and warm weather come back?

Heavy rain was so severe throughout Thursday that caravan homes were plunged under water and revellers walked out of Download Festival.

The music event was blighted with unseasonal downpours causing many festival-goers to abandon their tents and leave Donington Park in Leicestershire.

But there's good news on the weather front this weekend.

Thursday's torrential rain is set to turn into lighter showers throughout today (Friday) and the weekend.

By Monday experts at the Met Office are predicting a dry day when temperatures should climb into the high teens around most of the country.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Saturday starting dry but showers developing later.

"Sunday breezy with sunny spells, scattered blustery showers and a risk of thunder.

"Monday breezy but mainly dry. Warmer than recent days throughout."

In Bristol, Friday looks set to be a day of sunshine and showers.

Showers are expected until around 9am before we have a brief break from the rain.

More rainfall is expected through lunchtime and during the afternoon.

The best of the weather will be from 7pm as the rain is expected to stop by then.

But it won't be particularly warm, still only around 14C, much less than average for the time of year.
