UK weather: When will our Indian summer end?

Our Indian summer is set to last all week with temperatures soaring to highs of 24C.

Glorious sunshine is likely nearly everywhere today (Tuesday) and Wednesday should bring another bright day, with the exception of Scotland where showers and cloud are probable.

Wales and south, south-east, south-west, central and east England will bask in sunshine on Thursday morning, while Northern Ireland is also set to enjoy the rays in the afternoon.

While Bristol will bask in highs of 18C today and tomorrow, with the mercury climbing to a balmy 22C by Friday.

Met Office meteorologist Helen Roberts told The Mirror : "Much of this week is looking generally fairly quiet and settled.

“There will be sunny spells widely from Tuesday, with high pressure and a lot of tropical air being drawn up. It's a definite change after an unsettled early September.

“And the week from September 23 also looks like remaining fairly settled with high pressure, although the North-West may see some more unsettled weather at times.”

Despite the predictions for high temperatures on Sunday, there will also be widespread rainfall and cloud, bringing an end to the five-day period of sunshine.

Met Office forecast

Tuesday:

Any fog will clear to a widely sunny day, with light winds. It will be sunniest in the south and southwest but there will be showers in the far north.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Staying mostly settled, with light winds and sunny spells. Some rain and drizzle in the north at times and chilly nights. Becoming warmer, but with increasing morning mist and fog.
