UK weather: Thunderstorms to clear for 'bright' and dry Christmas Day

Wet and turbulent weather should make way for a bright and dry Christmas Day, the latest weather forecasts have said.

Thunderstorms and heavy showers are predicted for parts of the country today (December 24), including Bristol.

In fact, a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms will be in place from 5am until 1pm this afternoon, Mirror Online reports .

The warning covers parts of the south west, including Bath and Bristol, as well parts of Wales.

The Met Office has warned people to expect longer journey times, delays to train services and possible loss of power.

However, the grim weather will clear for lots of sunshine on Christmas Day for much of the country.

The Met Office says the big day will be "fine and bright" for most, with outbreaks of rain and stronger winds then expected on Boxing Day.
