The Met Office has issued weather warnings for thunderstorms and rain over the next three days.
Many regions in the UK has seen the temperature plummeted with some experiencing heavy rainfall which has caused flash floods following a blistering heatwave.
The severe weather warnings will last until Thursday, with warnings in place for thunderstorms and rain across vast swathes of the UK.
Forecasters are warning Brits to expect thunderstorms and heavy rain which could lead to 'flooding and transport disruption' for those in the affected regions.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said; “Yellow warnings are in place across much of the UK, away from the south, for thunderstorms and heavy rain over the coming days. Scotland, however, is expected to see some the heaviest rain and Amber warnings for thunderstorms and also rain have been issued here.
“Not everywhere within the warning areas will see heavy rain, rainfall amounts will vary from place to place. The rainfall could lead to some surface water flooding and disruption before it eases and moves south through Thursday.”
Experts said that as much as 30 mm of rain could fall in as little as one hour and that some places could see 60 mm in a few hours.
Lightning and hail is also expected, while in the north and in Scotland people are being warned of the possibility for localised flooding.
And on Wednesday going into Thursday the miserable weather is set to continue in the north with Scots being warned to expect 'persistent rainfall, heavy at times' which could lead to more flooding and transport disruption.
The heavy rain has prompted the Environment Agency to declare 10 flood alerts for England, meaning flooding is possible and residents should be prepared.
The affected regions are mainly in the south east as well as in Somerset.
