After weeks of torrential rain it might be hard to believe, but experts are predicting temperatures of 28C this weekend.
The mercury is expected to hit 28C in parts of the UK on Sunday and although forecasters say it is likely to drop on Monday, bookmakers still believe the current record could be smashed.
Bristol won't experience the hottest temperatures in the country, with the Met Office reporting highs of 27C on Saturday and 23C on Sunday.
The warmest August bank holiday Monday on record was in 2017, when a temperature of 28.2C was recorded, although bookmakers Betway think that next week could be hotter.
Forecasters at netweather.tv are more cautious and have predicted highs of 27C in London on Monday, just below the record, according to our sister paper The Mirror.
A spokesman for the website predicted warm weather for much of the country over the bank holiday weekend.
He said: "There are signs that parts of the UK could see some fine, warm and sunny weather.
"This looks more likely for England and inland Wales, but the far north-west of England joins Northern Ireland and Scotland with a higher risk of rain, more cloud and temperatures remaining in the high teens/ low 20s.
"For the rest of England and Wales temperatures could reach into the mid to high twenties.
"However, there is still a lot of uncertainty with the weekend forecast. High pressure is trying to build up from the south but low pressures and weather fronts continue to interrupt from the north-west."
Betway is offering 2/1 odds on the August bank holiday being the hottest on record.
