Sunshine is forecast across the UK today, with warm spells predicted over the weekend and temperatures peaking at 25C this afternoon and Sunday.

Most areas of the UK will wake up to a fine and dry morning, according to Met Office forecasters, with cloudier periods likely over parts of the far north, east of Scotland and northeast England.

As Britons continue to enjoy the bright weather, a couple of exceptions see those in southwest England and coastal Cornwall facing scattered showers. The Met Office issued flood warnings across the UK, particularly in parts of Wales.

While this morning will see single figures in Scotland, windy weather in the southwest is also likely to cause a chill.

According to the Met Office, a light breeze will move across England and Wales but pockets of sunshine will see temperatures reaching 23C in London this afternoon.

Looking forward to this evening, most areas will be dry and clear, with cloudier pockets across parts in the far north and east. Scattered showers continue to look possible in the far south and fog patches are forecast in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The chill in the air is set to continue into Sunday but lighter breezes will see a peak of 24C in London and highs of 19C in Liverpool.

September temperatures reached a four-year high this week according to the Met Office, with the sunny weather predicted until Wednesday, where those particularly in the northwest will face longer spells of rain and strong winds.
