The new week is set to bring a wet start with a drenching on its way, according to the latest weather forecast.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms for most of the UK that ends at midnight Sunday in a dramatic start to the summer.
But even after the storm clouds clear the washout should linger into Monday for some parts of the country, the national forecaster warned.
Conditions will be rainy and cloudy for much of England's north on Monday, meteorologists said.
The weather is due to be drier in the south, but showers are forecast to arrive in the south west by later in the day as the drizzly July continues.

The Met Office yellow warning was issued for areas in central and northern parts of England as well as parts of Northern Ireland and southern Scotland.
A washout of 20-33mm of rain was predicted over a period of just a few hours, along with thunder, lightning, and flooding in some parts.

Strong winds and heavy rain are forecast for some central and southern areas of the UK from early Tuesday.
Scattered, heavy showers and thunderstorms could strike again on Wednesday, before becoming more settled from Thursday.
The Met Office's long-range forecast says conditions should settle by the weekend as drier and warmer conditions arrive from the west and spread.
However the north could still be hit with more cloud and rain on the weekend and there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
