UK weather: Showers in many places with eastern Scotland set for heavy rain

Forecasters are predicting 10 hours of heavy rain in Edinburgh today (November 4) - but thankfully Bristol should be off the hook.

The Met Office has suggested showers and possibly heavier downfalls will be felt across many parts, including eastern Scotland.

But Bristol residents can expect a good chance of a dry morning, with the temperature fairly mild for this time of year.

The prospect of rain has been put at a chance of 10 per cent or lower until 11am, at which point the chance rises to 30 per cent.

In the afternoon, the chance of rain sits at around 40 per cent, rising to 50 per cent at 5pm and hitting that mark intermittently during the evening.

Temperature-wise, it is liable to be around 10 degrees or so throughout the day and into the evening

The wind will always be very slight, reaching a top gust of 19mph at 11pm.

For the UK in general, the Met Office states: "Heavy rain and strong winds will continue across eastern Scotland.

"Elsewhere, fog patches may be slow to clear. Many places will then see showers, locally heavy, with some bright spells."
