UK weather set to be be hotter than Greece and Portugal this weekend

Summer is finally on the horizon as forecasters's long-range predictions show the mercury surging at the end of the month.

Experts say during the last weeks of April the country will bask in temperatures higher than average for this time of year.

It's good news for millions who are staying at home and can enjoy the sunshine in their gardens and balconies, reports the Mirror.

And for those without either option, they can soak up the good weather during their daily exercise outdoors.

Temperatures across the south east of England are set to be warmer than Greece and Portugal this weekend.

Met Office chiefs say the heatwave will be brief – but people should expect the sun to return later this month. They predict temperatures to be “trending above average by the end of the month” in the southern half of the UK.

The Met Office forecast adds: “More dominant settled conditions may begin to develop as we head towards the end of April.

“This dry and fine weather has the potential to gradually push northwestwards across much of the UK.”

Frosts will become “infrequent” by the end of April, the Met Office’s three-month prediction system forecasts, with “below-average” rainfall between April and June.

It should remain dry and cloudly across Bristol today (Friday) with temperatures peaking at 11C. The mercury is set to rise to 17C on Sunday but our city will miss out on the highs expected on the east coast.
