Following a weekend of predominantly grey skies, fog and cloud will gradually clear, but will be replaced by outbreaks of rain moving south and eastwards.
Most of the rain will affect the hills in the west of the UK with little to no rain in the southern parts of England.
Daytime temperatures for most will be in the range of 9 to 11 degrees, with lows of 7 in northern Scotland.
Monday afternoon will bring with it some sunshine and a few scattered showers as the rain continues to clear away through the south. This will leave clear skies into the evening which will bring with them a sharp drop in temperature and some frost to the north east of England and eastern Scotland.
There will be lows of 0 to 4 degrees overnight in Scotland and around 5 degrees in London.
Tuesday will see some cloud and patches of drizzle in the west, as a front of slightly warmer air moves in from the Atlantic.
The midlands, central and south east England will see sunshine as the day goes on. Temperatures will be warmer, ranging from 8 to 11 degrees in the south.
A further weather front, moving in on Wednesday, will bring with it cloud, scattered showers, some gales and potential for sleet or snow in some parts of Scotland.
The weather will change once again towards the end of the week, with heavy rain forecast as we head into the weekend.
