UK weather: Scorching Bank Holiday weekend begins with sizzling temperatures today

Brits are set to sizzle in a scorching Bank Holiday weekend because of a 'heat plume' set to move up from Spain to the UK.

The blast of hot weather will see at least three days of sunny skies and sizzling temperatures which is forecast to reach highs of 25C.

After a washout summer that saw torrential rain for weeks Friday will see hot weather which will continue throughout the long weekend with drier weather and warmer temperatures.

The south west will see the most sunshine over the weekend, with areas including Dorset set to bask in highs of 25C, reports the Daily Star.

High temperatures were recorded on Thursday with parts of northern England and Scotland enjoying peaks that saw 27.2C recorded in Perthshire, Scotland.

The Met Office's Alex Deakin said: "High pressure is bringing sunny skies and they will stick around for the rest of this week and into the weekend."

Today will begin with dry spells for most of the UK which will bask in the summer heat blast, and the sunshine is set to continue on Saturday.

While Sunday may appear cloudy, it'll be a 'fine' and 'dry' day, before more sunny spells appear on Monday.

Met Office forecaster Steven Keats told The Sun: "It is going to be warm and dry, so lovely weather to be out and about especially if you're camping or going to the beach.

"You'll want to be in a pub garden with an ice-cold beer, in a southeast-facing sunspot away from the breeze, and temperatures will feel even hotter.

"August has saved the best weather till last.

"Places such as Weymouth and Durdle Door in Dorset, East Wittering in West Sussex, and London have seen temperatures begin to rise again after a wetter-than-average August."

UK Weather Forecast
