UK Weather: Remaining windy with blustery showers following on from Storm Dennis

Storm Dennis brought severe gales and over a month's worth of rain to the UK during this weekend and the unsettled weather looks likely to continue into this week.

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office and remains in place today (Mon February 17) for strong winds.

This means that for Bristol and much of the rest of the UK, some delays to public transport networks, delays on the roads and short-term loss of power could come into effect.

This morning, there is already disruption on the railway line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway due to flooding on the line.

Today:

Windy with a mixture of sunny spells and showers. Showers will be heavy at times with hail and thunder in some places. Northern and western UK and the south coast of England will see the heaviest and most frequent showers.

Tonight:

Windy with clear periods and further showers, mainly in the north and west. Showers will be heavy at times, and also wintry over northern hills.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Dry start on Wednesday. Rain spreading east, heavy in western areas, clearing to sunshine and showers on Thursday. Further rain spreading southeast on Friday with gales developing across many places.
