While many Brits will be hoping for sunshine to brighten up this past month of soggy weather, the Met Office believes there is no heatwave in sight.
Brits have been lashed by heavy rainfall for much of August, with this summer being declared the wettest in Britain for the past 10 years.
And the wet weather is set to continue this weekend with yet more rain and thunder is expected in different parts of the UK.
There is hope that next week could finally see the sun coming out with the Met Office telling the Mirror today there will be more settled conditions and some clear spells - but still no chance of a heatwave.

On Monday it will be cloudy for most of the UK but it is looking like there will be less rain, the forecaster said.
That will bring in more settled weather for much of the country, Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said, while some clear sunny spells are expected towards the end of the week.
While there are "signals for drier and more settled weather" across the UK, the south east is tipped to be the region with most sunshine.
Temperatures are expected to be average for the time of the year, so ranging around 19-20C, he said.
By comparison, the UK was at this time last year sweltering in highs of 36C as a heatwave had hit, giving Brits a last blast of sunshine before the summer ended.

And to make things even gloomier the more settled weather next week is likely to give way to more rainy conditions, the Met Office's spokesman said in a long-range forecast.
Torrential rain has already lashed the nation for weeks and August has seen cool temperatures for much of the month.
Flooding has hit parts of the country as the soggy summer stretched on for weeks.

And hopes for a mini heatwave appear to have been dashed after forecasters ruled it out.
Met Office forecaster Steven Keates said: "This summer has certainly been unremarkable and pretty bland. It’s not going to be remembered for warmth.
"We’ve had flooding, some parts of the country have seen double their average rainfall, and temperatures have been average.
"A heatwave is not on the cards either."
