UK weather: Met Office warning remains in place as flooding 'likely'

It looks like parts of the country will see some sunny spells today, despite a weather warning for heavy rain remaining in place this morning (Sunday).

The Met Office had issued a severe weather warning for more heavy rain and showers across southern England from Saturday, overnight and into Sunday morning.

Up to 30mm of rain is expected in parts of the South while the warning is in place.

And as a result travel disruption and flooding of homes and businesses is said to be "likely" with rain falling onto saturated ground.

There are currently flood warnings and alerts in place for the most of the country south of York.

In the South West forecasters predict a a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers throughout the day and warns that there could be a risk of hail and thunder.

But Bristol should miss the worst of the extreme weather, with the warning area falling just south of the city.

The Met Office forecast for Bristol actually predicts a cloudy start to the day with some light showers at lunchtime with temperatures expected to reach around 10C.
