UK weather: Met Office says Typhoon Hagibis could influence our weather after hitting Japan

Forecasters have warned the deadly storm which hit Japan could influence the weather in Britain this week.

Typhoon Hagibis struck Japan on Saturday (October 12) - at least 31 people have died and 20 are missing.

And now, the Met Office has said the typhoon could affect weather in the UK, Mirror Online reports.

On Friday (October 11), the forecaster tweeted: "As warm moist air from Typhoon Hagibis comes north to clash with a cold front pushing south-east across Russia, the strengthening temperature will accelerate the jet stream by 100mph in 48 hours.

"By affecting the jet, Hagibis could influence UK weather next week."

A yellow weather warning for rain will be in place for a large section of England, including Bristol, today (October 14).

The Met Office has told people to expect a "small chance" that homes and business could be flooded. It has also flagged up the risk of "difficult driving conditions".

The weather warning is in place from midday until 11.59pm.
