UK weather: Met Office says expect 20C highs in Bristol but cold snap is waiting in the wings

There were summer days when the temperature didn't rise as high as the 20C we will have in Bristol on Thursday and Friday.

After a mixed summer, autumn has delivered a mini-heatwave and now more warm weather in the latest Met Office forecast for Bristol.

Even though it will feel warm, it's probably not sunbathing weather as it will be overcast for the next two days.

The weekend is, however, looking dry and sunny at times with the mercury rising to 18C on Saturday and Sunday.

No real rain to speak of is forecast in Bristol for the next seven days, but expect plenty of grey skies.

The BBC is also forecasting 20C highs on Friday with the next week characterised by cloud, no rain, and temperatures peaking at around 18C at the weekend, falling to 16C highs on Monday and a cooler 13C from Tuesday to next Wednesday.

Across the UK, the Met Office says to expect a north/south split will start from Monday (October 11), with unsettled and breezy conditions in the north and a dry south with sunny spells.

Towards the end of October, more unsettled weather will take hold moving into November.

And while temperatures will be around average, there could be some colder weather settling in by early November.
