UK weather: Met Office rain warnings in place

Bristol should be mostly dry today (August 31) if the Met Office prediction is accurate - but not everywhere is so lucky.

Yellow warnings for rain have been put in place for much of Scotland as homes and businesses are at risk of flooding.

Here in Bristol, however, forecasters reckon we will have sunny intervals, changing to cloudy by late morning.

Most of the day will see a very low chance of rain, but there is 60 per cent chance of light rain around 11am-1pm.

Temperature-wise, we can expect the morning to start off at around the 15 degree mark, rising to a high of 19 degrees by 2pm.

The wind is tipped to reach gusts of up to 28mph by 4pm, while visibility should be 'very good' throughout the day.

As for the rest of the UK, strong winds and heavy rain could hit Scotland and western parts. That weather is likely to move eastward and slowly ease, according to the Met Office, reaching southeast England by late in the day. Sunny spells and showers will follow.
