Britain is set to be blasted by a "snowbomb" in the final weeks of December with severe gales and heavy winds forecasted.
Following Storm Arwen and Barra the UK has experienced unseasonably warm temperatures this week.
However that’s set to change just a couple of days after Christmas.
Weather forecasters, Netweather.tv, have predicted that on December 27 temperatures will plummet and brutal conditions will commence with five storms before the end of winter, My London reported.
The new storm, dubbed Storm Corrie, could see 1cm of snowfall in the north west of the UK.
Speaking to The Sun, British Weather Services meteorologist Jim Dale said: “We are expecting one more major storm this month which will set the trend for coming months.
"We expect five to six storms to hit through the winter period which could be severe enough to warrant naming."
However, it looks like London will escape the blistering conditions of the storm but may still experience some snow.
BBC Weather predicts that December 27 will be 5C with sleet showers and a gentle breeze.
Weather forecasters WXCharts have mapped out where snow is predicted to fall, demonstrated by a wall of purple on the map.
The Met Office has issued a long term prediction for the long festive weekend, including the date Storm Corrie is expected to wreak havoc.
“In general, cloud amounts will tend to reduce with time, with a corresponding increase in the risk of overnight fog and frost, which may be slow to clear by day in some areas.
“There will be a slight chance of rain at times in the far north and northwest, with some stronger winds here (London).
“Temperatures will generally be near average, and locally mild in the north, but perhaps rather cold at times in the south and feeling chilly where any fog persists.”

Generally dry and cloudy with light winds, though a few sunny intervals are likely, especially for parts of Scotland. Temperatures slowly decreasing, with patchy overnight fog and frost in places.
