UK weather: Met Office issues yellow weather warning for rain

The Met Office has warned some homes in the UK could be flooded today (February 23).

A yellow warning is in place and, while it does not cover Bristol, the alert should be heeded just over the Severn Bridge.

The warning applies to most of south Wales, as well as the more central parts of Wales.

The Met Office says: "A spell of persistent, sometimes heavy rainfall is expected during Sunday morning.

"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible. Some bus and train services could be affected with journey times taking longer."

The alert is set to be in place until 11am.

A second yellow weather warning, for snow and ice, has been issued for the same day, but only applies to Scotland and will stop being active at 10am.

In Bristol, we are predicted to see highs of 12C today and downpours before 9am, before a cloudy remainder of the day with some sunny spells in early afternoon.
