UK weather: Met Office forecasts scorching day ahead

Tennis players and fans at Wimbledon will face temperatures of up to 27 degrees today (Friday, July 5), according to the Met Office.

London is set for scorching heat by the late afternoon and early evening, meaning Andy Murray may well be relieved to have got his first doubles match out the way yesterday.

Bristol is due to have warm and dry weather throughout the day too, with a top temperature of 24 degrees between 2pm-5pm.

In the main it should be a calm day wind-wise, according to the Met Office, but gusts of 18 mph may be felt in the evening.

As for the rest of the UK, it should be warm and sunny across southern and central areas, but Scotland might have occasional rain - with some spots for Northern Ireland and the far north of England too.
