UK weather: 'Longer spells of rain' forecast after sunny weekend

Sunny conditions this weekend are likely to be followed by cooler weather and longer spells of rain next week, the Met Office has said.

Today (April 25) will be dry with sunny spells for most after the cloud clears for most of us, aside from a few showers in the south west and Wales.

Bristol in particular will see a mixture of sunshine and cloud, with temperatures set to peak at 19C.

The weather will then become "cooler and more changeable" from Sunday, with showers in places among the bright spells.

The Met Office's forecast for today reads: "A few showers for the south west and Wales, else most places dry with warm sunny spells after low cloud clears, but remaining dull and misty near some coasts.

The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday then says: "Cooler and more changeable than recently with showers in places but also bright spells.

"Some longer spells of rain are possible in the south later on Monday or on Tuesday."
