UK Weather: Liverpool to bask in warm and sunny spells before glorious weekend

Liverpool has been enjoying warm and sunny weather for the past few days and the trend is set to continue this week.

Merseyside will see temperatures in the low twenties for the entire week, with the sunshine expected to break through the clouds on several days.

By the weekend the weather will be incredibly summery, with highs of 24 degrees and bright sunshine forecast on Sunday.

Today will see a high of 20 degrees with sunny spells and a light breeze across the region.

Tomorrow will see the mercury reach 22 degrees with a mixture of sunshine and cloud.

Wednesday and Thursday will be very similar with more cloud expected, but temperatures will remain in the low twenties throughout.

Friday could see more sunshine burst through the clouds and by the weekend the sunshine will dominate with highs of 24 degrees predicted, making perfect beach weather.

The Met Office forecast for the entire North West said: "Today will see some areas of cloud at times, and the odd shower might develop and possibly turn heavy in the afternoon.

"Skies will clear later in the day to reveal some late evening sunshine. Clear spells with some low cloud, fog and mist patches developing through the overnight.

"High pressure should dominate for Tuesday with any low cloud, mist or fog lifting early leaving plenty of sunshine and light winds for the remainder of the day.

"A series of weak Atlantic systems passing to the west will spread cloud into the region for the remainder of the week.

"However it should continue generally dry. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will start cloudy with the chance of the odd shower or spell of rain but sunny spells develop in the afternoon. It will also be breezy."
