UK weather: Liverpool set for cold temperatures as sunshine ends

Liverpool is set to see much cooler temperatures this week, with cloudier skies set to dominate the weather.

Last week saw sunny skies and rising temperatures, with many people heading outside to enjoy the warm weather.

This month has been the driest April ever recorded, but there is the chance of showers this week as the sunshine ends.

The sunshine is set to cling on on Monday, but temperatures will start to wane with only a high of 14 degrees predicted.

As the week continues temperatures will continue to be in the low teens, with a chance of showers and clouds throughout.

The forecast for the entire North West said: "Staying dry on Monday with any patchy cloud tending to dissipate as the day draws on, leaving cloud-free skies and plenty of sunshine. A light breeze.

"Turning cloudier this evening but staying dry. Patchy rain will push in from the north in the early hours. A gentle breeze.

"Staying mostly cloudy tomorrow, although there will be a few sunny spells in places. Showers will persist throughout the day, some heavy and thundery at times. Feeling cooler with a light breeze.

"Low pressure will continue to bring some unsettled weather over the next few days. Wednesday will be a breezy day, with patchy cloud and the odd shower.

"The best of the sunshine will be in the afternoon.

"Thursday looks set to see scattered showers, with sunny spells again likely to develop in the afternoon.

"A similar day is expected on Friday, with a few showers likely."
