UK weather: Ice warning in aftermath of Storm Jorge

People across the UK will wake up to a frosty start today (Monday, March 2) as icy patches could cause traffic chaos and injury.

The latest cold snap comes in the aftermath of Storm Jorge which was the third named storm over the last three consecutive weekends.

And residents up and down the country are now feeling the impact of the extreme weather fronts, with more than 3,300 properties in England flooded, reports the Mirror.

Some 15 rivers in the Midlands, Yorkshire and Lancashire recorded their highest levels on record - and the Environment Agency warned the country needs to brace itself for 'more frequent periods of extreme weather like this' because of climate change.

Today's yellow ice warning, which spans most of the west of England and Ireland, is in place until 10am.

The alerts reads: "Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
