UK weather: Hurricane Humberto set to batter Britain with heavy rain and strong winds

Hurricane Humberto is heading for the UK bringing heavy rain and strong winds, according to the Met Office .

The storm is due to hit Britain next week, marking an end to our Indian summer.

Temperatures should soar to a balmy 25C on Saturday on what will be the final day of a mini-heatwave across the UK.

But downpours are expected to batter the country on Sunday as the mercury starts to drop and conditions will finally begin to feel more autumnal.

Simon Partridge, a Met Office forecaster, told the Mirror Online : "The remnants of Hurricane Humberto are expected to arrive across the UK on late Monday.

"It will bring some outbreaks of rain and some stronger winds. There's potential for some strong winds and maybe a few gales around western coasts.

"Next week will feel more Autumnal than this week and will be a more unsettled affair."

Hurricane Humberto cleared Bermuda overnight and is now moving to the north of the islands.

It is due to move across the Atlantic over the next few days.

Temperatures will plunge to 19C on Monday, the Met Office says.

However, there will still be a few days of warm sunshine before the rain kicks in.

Highs of 22C are predicted today(Friday)  and 25C on Saturday, Weather Online predicts.

While in Bristol, temperatures will climb to 21C on Friday and 24C the following day. Showers are likely to hit the city on Sunday from around 7am.

Hurricane Humberto knocked out power lines in Bermuda on Wednesday night, plunging the islands into darkness.

Met Office weather forecast

Friday:

Another settled day with plenty of warm sunshine across the UK. Winds strengthening from the south.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday, warm sunny spells. Windy in the west. A chance of showers later. Sunday, rain and thundery showers clear northeastwards. Monday, rain and wind push eastwards after a fine start.
