Britain will be battered by gale force winds and torrential rain - with coastlines to see huge waves - as the remnants of Hurricane Epsilon reach UK shores.
Wind gusts as strong as 40mph will see "lots of showers rattling in", while temperatures could dip to just 10C in parts making for a fairly unpleasant day to come.
The heavy downpours are expected to merge with hail and thunder in Wales, as well as central and southern England - with a chillier feel all round despite some spots of sunshine.
Tomorrow will see things turn even more unsettled, with up to 130mm of rain predicted in the Welsh mountains, and averages of 30-40mm for the rest of the UK.
A yellow weather warning for severe rain has been placed by the Met Office across parts of the west of England from midday Thursday to midnight on Saturday - with flooding and travel disruption a possibility.
BBC forecaster Stav Danaos has warned people to "take care" if going for walks along western coasts, with the strong winds being generated in the Atlantic likely to cause some "huge waves...throughout the day".
"It's going to remain very unsettled for the rest of this week, next area of low pressure sweeps up from the southwest for Thursday...that wind and rain will push to all areas but the northern isles...it will be very windy," the meteorologist continued.
"Some of that rain will be heavy across northern and western hills and it stays very wet into Friday across the north and the west, maybe a risk of localised flooding."
Friday, however, does see temperatures rise to 18C in London and other parts of the south, according to weather charts.
The Environment Agency has issued one flood alert for today in the River Thame and Chalgrove Brook area.
