UK weather: Highs of 23C and blazing sunshine this week

Blazing sunshine and highs of 23C will bake Britain this week after days of rain, experts say.

Cooler temperatures as well as downpours plagued lockdown-Brits last week.

But the outlook looks set to be more spring-like in the coming days, ending in a toasty 23C on Friday for the bank holiday, according to BBC weather.

Today (Monday) will be dry and sunny - setting a trend for the week ahead, the Mirror.

Temperatures will rise to a balmy 23C on Friday just in time for VE day.

The event celebrates the Allies formally accepting Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender from World War II in 1945.

It will feel a lot warmer in Bristol today, with highs of 18C predicted by the Met Office. Cloud will linger for most of the day but some sunshine could arrive by 6pm.

UK weather forecast

Monday:

It’s going to be a fairly pleasant start to the week on Monday, with mostly dry and sunny spells in the west while the south will get some fresh, easterly winds. The east won’t be so lucky with some rain and scattered showers.

Tuesday to Thursday:

It’s set to be mostly dry with sunny spells on the lead up to a warm VE Day. Tuesday will see grim weather in parts of the country, with outbreaks of rain and thunder in the south. There will be some showers on Wednesday and Thursday but those days will mostly be dry and sunny.
