Large parts of England and Wales are set to be blanketed in heavy snow today.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for most of Wales and a long stretch of western England from 5am to 6pm on Saturday.
The forecaster has predicted snow heavy enough to bring traffic to a grinding halt in some areas.
Dark clouds will provide a constant shower of heavy rain first thing, which will turn to sleet and then snow as the morning goes on.
By lunchtime areas across the western parts of the isle could see the inches of snow building up.
Hill tops in Wales will receive the brunt of the snow, with a low chance of as much as 12inches falling in higher parts of the north.

In England Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Warwickshire are due a couple of inches.
On Saturday morning the Met Office issued a further weather warning, alerting people living from the west coast of Wales to the east coast of England to the presence of ice.
Roads and paths are likely to be slippery for today and tomorrow.
The national forecaster has also issued weather warnings for Scotland and the South West.
With temperatures having hit the minus threes and fours across the east coast of Scotland last night, the chance of ice on the roads and pavements this morning is high.
A ice warning has been issued urging people to be careful as they travel on untreated roads and tracks today.
At the other end of the country, a large weather front is working its way up over Cornwall and Devon this morning.

It is due to unload large amounts of rain on the two counties until around 8pm this evening, with as much as 8mm an hour likely to fall during the worst of it.
The Environment Agency had 69 flood warnings in place across England on Friday evening meaning immediate action is required, and 231 alerts, meaning flooding is possible.
Today's weather follows in the vein of yesterday's, when parts of Scotland were covered by up to 7inces of snow in just 24 hours overnight.
Areas in southwest England recorded almost 30mm of rainfall.
Nicola Maxey, a Met Office spokeswoman, said the downpours will be caused by a weather front moving in from the South West.
She said: "From Friday evening we've got a series of weather fronts bringing rain across Cornwall and much of Devon until tomorrow.
"As this rain starts to move north it will combine with cold air already over the UK, causing snow across much of Wales, where up to 20cm could fall in the highest regions.
"Over the weekend large swathes of the UK will see some form of snow, with warnings in place for much of Scotland and the north east of England.
"Even parts of London and the South East should see a small flurry, which is unlikely to settle."
Unfortunately for those hoping for more clement weather, next week will begin as badly as this one finished.
Yellow weather warnings have been issued for the whole of Northern Ireland and a great swathe of England from Birmingham to Newcastle and across to Manchester for Tuesday.
Snow and ice should be expected in those areas, with the wintery focus moving up to central Scotland the following day.
