UK weather: Heavy rain and thunder forecast by Met Office

Heavy rain and thunder is forecast for Bristol today (Monday) - and the rest of the UK can expect much of the same.

The Met Office has predicted a high chance of downpours throughout the morning and well into the afternoon and evening.

There is a high likelihood of thunder being heard around 1pm, while the wind will reach gusts of 17mph in Bristol at 11am.

As for the rain, we might not see the end of it until around 7pm or 8pm.

Temperature-wise, we are waking up to 13 degrees or so, rising to a peak of 16 degrees by 4pm.

The Met Office summary for the UK as a whole is as follows: "Rain will move southeastwards, gradually easing across the north.

"The rain in Wales, southwest and central southern England will be heavy and perhaps thundery, giving way to brighter spells later."
