UK weather: Four days of sunshine as temperatures to hit double figures over weekend

Spring is here with Brits set to enjoy a four days of mild and sun from today, with weather more like a May bank holiday.

It was officially the warmest day of the year so far on Wednesday after temperatures reached 17.5C in Weybourne, Norfolk following weeks of snow, freezing temperatures and flooding,

While there isn't likely to be any more records yet for temperatures for 2021, following yesterday's balmy weather, it will stay warm for most parts of the country into the weekend.

The unseasonably warm weather is due to air being blown up from north Africa and Spain, forecasters said.

Today forecasters predict highs of about 12C in some parts of the south and the relatively warm weather looks set to continue.

While Thursday will see some rain in parts of the UK it will clear quickly with sunny spells expected for most of the country and some sporadic rainfall.

Tomorrow and then into the weekend the Met Office is predicting widespread sunshine, with some patches of rain, particularly in the north of the UK.

Despite the milder weather compared to that seen in recent months there are still concerns over flooding in some parts of England.

The Environment Agency has four flood warnings for England in place, meaning 'immediate action required' as well as 59 flood alerts.

Severe weather warnings for rain which were in place this week for many parts of the country, particularly in the north, have now all been lifted.

There are no further warnings listed for the next seven days.

Those warnings had followed weeks of snow and freezing temperatures, as well as a deluge of heavy rain and flooding which battered many parts of the UK earlier this year.
