UK weather forecast: Thunderstorm weather warnings as UK temperatures soar in the sunshine

The weather has made a dramatic U-turn as September temperatures soar again today, Wednesday, September 8.

It’s another day of bright sunshine and clear skies for the majority of the UK but it's not all good news.

In parts of England and Wales things are set to take a turn for the worst as the Met Office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms.

What is the UK weather forecast?

Morning

After a mild night, fog patches and mist over Northern Ireland and Scotland is forecasted for the morning.

In the late morning, there is a chance of heavy rain and lighting bring disruption to South West England and Wales.

Further east, it will remain sunny.

Afternoon

As the cloud thickens in the South West of England, rain pushes in across Cornwall and Devon.

The rain will hit Somerset, Dorset and South Wales.

However, for many afternoon temperatures soar with the highest of 29 degrees celsiu in the Midlands and 28 degrees in London.

The forecast suggests a hot 27 degrees in Glasglow South West England is expecting cooler temperatures of 18 degrees.

Evening

The evening is predicted to see a flurry of showers and potential thunderstorms in the South West of England and South Wales, which could be a dampener on the day.
