Temperatures in parts of the UK could plunge to -10C as the country experiences cold weather over the coming weeks.
A 1,000 mile-wide "Norwegian barrage" could hit Britain, making the mercury drop dramatically.
The Met Office said Scotland is facing an "early winter" with snow and frost expected.
According to The Weather Outlook, the region could experience -10C next month.
In better news for today's forecast, Met Office forecaster Rebecca Mitchell said there will be plenty of sunshine after a chilly start to the day.

A few light showers are expected to hit coastal areas, in particular North Sea coastal districts.
Many other areas will be dry with sunny spells, the Met Office said.
Sunday will be another cold day, however less windy than Saturday.
In the evening, the weather is expected to be dry and chilly in the South and East with a few fog patches in Eastern England.

It will be cloudier elsewhere with outbreaks of rain moving eastwards.
The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze claims that an "early winter" is expected to bring in chilly temperatures in the coming weeks.
He said: “It looks like an early winter, with the cards stacked in favour of a cold second half of autumn due to La Nina.
“-10C is expected in Scotland and -7C in England by late November, with snow on Scottish mountains now, in northern England from early November and the South at risk from late November.”

He also said there is a possibility of snow over the Scottish mountains.
Early next week, there will be more clouds and showers at times, the Met Office said.
On Tuesday and Wednesday the weather is expected to be drier in the North and West, but windy and cool with showers in the South and East.

Further showers will affect North Sea coastal districts, whilst many other areas will be dry with sunny spells and just the odd light shower around. Rather cold, but less windy than on Saturday.
Tonight
Dry and chilly in the south and east with a few fog patches in Eastern England. Cloudier elsewhere with outbreaks of rain moving eastwards.
Monday
Dry and bright until later in south-eastern England, else cloudy and cold with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Becoming clearer in the northwest with sunny spells and a few showers.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday
Showers or longer spells of rain on Tuesday into Wednesday, perhaps heavy on Tuesday in southeast England. Drier and brighter conditions in the northwest extending to all areas by Thursday.
