UK weather forecast: Sunshine and warmer temperatures to sweep in for Easter bank holiday weekend

The UK could bask in temperatures as high as 18C this week as the weather looks set to improve heading into the Easter weekend.

According to the Met Office, the outlook for the coming week is rather unsettled but the sun will make an appearance. After a chilly start, temperatures are set to increase from midweek on, with prolonged blue skies.

While the temperature is expected to surpass the seasonal average of 15.4C occasionally, it could feel much warmer in the south and east.

Though on Saturday some parts of the east coast will see temperatures as low as 8C, with the warmest places likely to be on the west coast.

There is a chance of scattered showers in the west on Monday and Tuesday and in the southeast on Wednesday. However, by Thursday most of the country will enjoy dry weather and sunny spells, with the mercury reaching 18C.

Ellie Creed, a meteorologist with the Met Office, said that although it was too early to determine what was in store for the Easter bank holiday weekend, the mild weather is expected to make a return.

She told The Independent:  “Lots of places will be largely dry with bright or sunny spells but in the northwest it will be cloudy with occasional rain.”

The weather looks most likely to be mixed, with rain and some sun at times during Easter itself and the start of the following week.

Temperatures will trend from slightly above average to nearer normal overall, but it will still be rather warm at times in the southeast.
