UK weather forecast: Sunny spells expected to brighten the day all over the country

As we approach mid-August, there is no repeat of last months scorching weather making a return just yet.

The unsettled rain and wind continues today and through the weekend but much of the country will enjoy sunny spells, as well.

In particular, the north west of England will have large periods of sunshine throughout Friday, accompanied by a constant moderate breeze.

Here is your weather forecast for Friday 13th August in the UK.

What is the UK weather forecast?

On Friday in the north and west, most areas will remain windy with outbreaks of rain to be expected.

Elsewhere, it will be mostly dry. Periods of sunshine should be expected in amongst cloud cover throughout the day.

Morning

In London, the day will start with sunny intervals and a steady breeze of wind throughout the day.

A similar forecast is in place for the east.

Peak temperatures of around 17c will prevail in Northern Ireland in a bright but blustery start to the day in the province.

In Bristol and the west including Wales, a wet morning is highly likely before clearing up later.

Afternoon

Much of the south will experience and overcast afternoon before some sunshine breaks through later on

In Scotland, light rain will fall through the afternoon before more dry conditions return.

The north of England will have a pleasant mid day with little chance of rain, temperatures could rise as high as 20c.

Evening

A dry and clear evening has been forecast in much of Wales.

The midlands will enjoy sunshine until the evening draws to a close and the temperature drops.

Rain is less likely into the evening in the north, including much of Scotland.

Across the country, the constant breeze of earlier in the day will fade.

A mild evening is in store for London and the south as the sun falls behind the clouds into Saturday.
