Brits desperate for some sun after a miserable sodden start to August are in luck with a warm tropical air mass from the Mediterranean expected to bring a heatwave.
Scorching temperatures are predicted to begin later in the month but before then experts have warned of yet more days of thunderstorms and rain up to the weekend.
A high-pressure weather front from the Mediterranean Sea will push storms northward and drier weather should "spread from the south" along with a tropical air mass, Daily Star reports.
This type of air mass, according to the Met Office, originates over North Africa and the Saraha - hence the reports of an African plume heading to our shores.
It's most common during the summer months, such as June, July, and August, but it can take place any time of the year.

Though the Met Office has said in response to the reports that there is “little signal for any exceptionally hot weather”.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms are set to deluge parts of the UK over the next four days, according to the Met Office.
Yellow weather warnings for thunder and heavy rain have been issued across areas in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Forecasters believe some areas, particularly the north west of England and north Wales, could see as much as 80-100mm of rain on Friday.
Long range forecasts show a mixed picture and sunny spells and showers are both set to appear next week, with more downpours featuring in the north and west.
A thick cloud is likely to appear with strong winds in the northwestern areas of the UK before the unsettled conditions move down towards the southeast.
But the following weeks, between August 19 and the first days of September, changeable conditions, temperatures above average could develop.
The Met Office said: "Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the potential for hotter weather later in the month with rainfall most likely below average."
It's expected a potential heatwave will sweep Brits during this time, offering some summer sun before September appears.
