Britain will be hit by heavy showers today as August ends with a windy washout.
While Storm Francis and its 80mph winds have moved on, large parts of the UK will still be subjected to unpleasant conditions for much of today and Friday morning.
Thursday begins with a chilly start before heavy downpours move in from the west and hit Northern Ireland.
As the morning continues the showery bursts will move into England Scotland, covering much of the UK.
Its the south west's turn in the afternoon as the rains come down across Devon and Cornwall, the Bristol Channel and Plymouth.
Met Office forecaster Claire Nasir said: "Another spell of wet weather will be upon the UK as we head through Thursday.
"All courtesy of yet again another area of low pressure. Not as deep or as potent as Storm Francis, even so, it will track across the UK bringing with it that wet weather.
"We could see some heavy showery bursts through Northern Ireland towards northern England and southern Scotland through the morning, and northern parts of Wales.
"And then another batch of rain comes through more southern areas through the morning and into the afternoon.
"Some high rainfall totals possible on the south coast through the latter part of the day."
Despite the mostly sodden conditions, London and the Midlands are forecast to see temperatures of 20C and 21C.
But the wet weather will continue into the night, bringing thunder on Friday morning ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
Ms Nasir continued: "A wet night on Thursday, wind will start to pick up in north and west in the early hours of Friday.
"As it moves towards the North Sea it will introduce a northerly wind and that wind will be cool so temperatures will struggle on Friday with again some outbreaks of rain and even some thundery showers."
