UK weather forecast: Heatwave continues for many as temperatures reach 31°C

Following a sweltering weekend, the UK heatwave is set to continue with even more hot temperatures and sunny weather expected across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland today.

The Met Office is predicting a warm day, with just some scattered clouds and light rain showers in some regions later in the day.

With temperatures pushing up to 31°C, it’s another great opportunity to make the most of the Vitamin D, but remember to wear sunscreen if you’re planning to spend any time in direct sunlight.

Here’s how the weather forecast is looking for much of the UK on Monday, July 19. All predictions are from the Met Office.

What is the UK weather forecast?

Today, there will be some low cloud in the northeast that breaks to allow sunny spells, but it will be cooler along the North Sea coasts.

Meanwhile, there’s more hot sunshine on the way for the southern and western regions with a chance of just the odd heavy shower later in the day.

Morning

After a mild night it will be a cloudy but dry start to the day for much of the UK. Southern regions of England can expect some early sunny spells, while lingering fog in Scotland and some northern parts of England will clear by lunchtime.

Afternoon

As the day progresses, expect UK-wide sunny spells and warm temperatures, with some fair-weather clouds and occasional light showers in Wales and the south and southwest of England.

Once again, it’s going to feel very warm and humid for many across the country, with highs of 25°C in Scotland, 26°C in the north of England and 28°C in Wales. It could get as hot as 31°C in London and the southeast, so make sure you stay safe in the heat.

Evening

It will stay warm into the evening across the UK, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-20s for much of the country.
