UK weather forecast from the Met Office for Thursday, September 5

The UK is set for a more wet and cooler conditions on Thursday after a week of unsettled weather.

Gale forces hit parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland yesterday, with gusts of up to 55 miles-per-hour in places.

And temperatures have been dropping across the country making it feel more autumnal.

Forecasters say rain is likely to hit every region in the country today expect the south-east.

But Thursday should however begin sunny, with showers moving in later in the afternoon.

Bristol should escape the worst of the wet weather with highs of 17C and lots of sunshine predicted throughout the day.

The Met Office's forecast

Thursday:

A cold and clear start, except for a few coastal showers in the north and west. Sunny spells for most, but a risk of showers for all but southeast England.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Sunshine and blustery showers Friday. Saturday mainly dry and bright. Sunday bright in the southeast, but clouding over from the west with wet and windy weather arriving. Cold at night.
