UK weather forecast from the Met Office for this week - summer is delayed in Bristol

Bristol will be left feeling distinctly autumnal this week, with sunshine, showers and rather cool temperatures continuing for the next five days.

Forecasters from the Met Office are predicting a pretty constant diet of a bit of sunshine, a bit of rain and a temperature of just 16 deg C - a world away from Saturday’s glorious hot sunshine.

Tuesday will start a bit grey and dry, but there is a significant 70 per cent chance of a shower - or something even heavier - by lunchtime, so be prepared for a drenching if you’re out and about during the middle of the day.

Forecasters are predicting it will dry up by the end of the day, and we’ll be in for a fairly mild, dry night.

The outlook for the rest of the week is much the same - albeit with the caveat that the further away the forecasters predict, the more risk of it not being quite right is.

From the start of the week, the Met Office is predicting that Wednesday will be the driest day, but Friday looks not great at all.

That will be good news for 25,000 Muse fans who will be anxiously looking at the forecast ahead of Wednesday evening's stadium gig at Ashton Gate - while it won't be warm with clear skies like for Take That and Rod Stewart, it looks like being cool but dry for all those on the pitch.

While Thursday and much of this week will be a mixture of sunshine and showers, a weather front will sweep across Britain on Friday, bringing persistent heavy rain all day, according to the Met Office.

That will break on Saturday and Sunday, but the weekend still looks patchy, with rain and sun both forecast.

The BBC weather forecast is a little bit more optimistic than the Met Office’s. They are predicting a bit of a nicer picture on Thursday, with more sunshine than rain, albeit with Friday looking slightly better too.
