UK weather forecast: Fine and dry day after chilly night for most

It will be another fine and dry day for large swathes of Britain today despite some chilly and frosty conditions overnight.

The Bank Holiday heatwave shows no sign of returning soon, with temperatures drastically dropping in parts of the country.

It comes after temperatures peaked at 25C in Kew Gardens on Sunday (April 12), not far off the 25.3C Easter Sunday record set in Solent, Hampshire, on April 24 2011.

The Met Office has said today (Wednesday, April 15) will be a little warmer but warned heavy showers may hit parts of the country later in the week.

The forecast for today says: "Another fine and dry day for most and a little warmer than Tuesday.

"West and north Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland cloudier but still mostly dry."

The outlook for Thursday to Saturday states: "Isolated showers in southwest England, some patchy rain in Scotland on Thursday.

"Showers, locally heavy, in parts of England and Wales Friday and Saturday, mostly dry with sunny spells elsewhere."

Bristolians can expect lots of sunshine today, with temperatures set to peak at 16C.
