UK weather forecast: Country could be hotter than Ibiza next week as temperatures soar to 30C

Temperatures are set to soar over the coming days peaking at a possible 30C as Brits enjoy a final blast of summer.

The mercury is set to peak at about 19C tonight, with patches of sun expected on Friday what was a predominantly cloudy day.

Saturday will also be cloudy with highs of about 21C - but by Sunday the mercury will hit 23C with strong sunshine predicted all day.

Monday temperatures may reach 30C, with consistent highs of 28C predicted from Monday to Thursday.

It means the UK may well be hotter than popular holiday destination Ibiza, which will only see temperatures of about 28C on Monday.

The sunny spells came after parts of the north and Scotland were was battered with 60mph winds.

A Met office spokesperson said: “A bulge in the jet stream over the next few days will allow some very warm air to move northwards across the UK, with some central and southeastern areas possibly becoming hot early next week.”

Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Nick Silkstone, added: “Along with the dry and sunny weather, southern areas of the UK will see temperatures rise due to a combination of high pressure and warm air from the continent.”

“On Sunday temperatures across central and southern England will reach into the low to mid 20’s celsius and it’ll turn warmer still as we start the new week, with temperatures possibly reaching around 29 or 30 Celsius in the south east early next week.”
