UK weather forecast: Brits to bask in 25C sunshine after days of downpours

The Met Office says warm weather will dominate the UK from this weekend, with temperatures reaching 25C in some parts.

Most of Britain has seen unsettled weather this week, with rain and strong winds battering most parts.

And more "dull and damp" weather is expected until Friday with 50mm of rain to fall in parts as Tropical Storm Edouard moves in.

The cyclone continues to travel through the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to reach the UK by Thursday - only adding to the deluge of downpours for Brits.

But by the weekend, things looks to improve for the country, with summery conditions expected.

In fact, temperatures are expected to reach 25C in some parts.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "There is a change in the weather into the weekend and next week.

"There is a better chance of seeing drier and warmer weather coming.

"From Saturday warmer there will be a warmer spell of weather than what we have seen for the last week.

"For the weekend, England and Wales is looking dry and there will be spells of sunshine.

"The warmest of the weather will be in London and the south east, with temperatures reaching 24C/25C."

And the settled weather looks set to remain for next week for many.

"Going forward, high pressure looks to continue next week," the spokesperson continued.

"On the whole, England and Wales is looking largely settled, with temperatures in the mid-20s in the sunshine.

"It is too early to tell if it will be a heatwave.

"But further north there is a risk of rain."

The Met Office long range weather forecast from next Monday reads: "Through the majority of this period, it will be mostly dry and settled for many areas, especially in the south of the UK.

"More unsettled conditions with spells of rain and strong winds may affect the north and northwest at times.

"These unsettled conditions could spread to other parts of the UK later in this period, but widespread unsettled conditions are unlikely.

"Temperatures are likely to be mostly around normal, although it may become warm for a time in the south and perhaps very warm in the southeast."
