A chilly spell across the UK is set to break by the Easter weekend - and Mediterranean sunshine could send temperatures soaring to 22C on Good Friday.
Temperatures in Britain could be warmer than hotspots such as Barcelona and Majorca over the holiday, bringing a welcome end to weeks of Scandinavian cold and rain.
The weather will improve throughout the week to give a dry and warm bank holiday weekend throughout much of the country, according to the Met Office.
Forecaster Simon Partridge said Good Friday will be pleasant and the mercury will rise to exceed 20C in areas on Saturday and Easter Sunday.

But clouds could usher in some cooler temperatures in the North West and some parts of the east coast.
Monday will be dry, bright and less cold, the Met Office said, while the far west and southwest will see rain and gales at times.
Monday night will be milder than recent nights and mostly frost free.
On Tuesday, rain will spread into western Scotland, the Midlands and southern England.
But from Wednesday it will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine.
Mr Partridge said: "After there was a chilly spell this weekend, we are going to see temperatures gradually increase through the week.
"By the weekend we could see in parts of the country temperatures of around 20C, or just above."
The warm weather was forecast for south of England as well as western Scotland and the north west of England.

Temperatures have plunged below freezing in the north in recent days, hitting -5C in places.
They will climb into the 20s on Good Friday and could hit 22C, the Met Office said, while the Spanish island of Majorca and Barcelona are forecast to see highs of about 18C with cloud cover and rain.

Monday
Many areas will be dry, bright and less cold.
Colder and cloudier in the far west and southwest, with rain and strong winds at times, perhaps with gales in exposure.
Also cloudy in northeast, with some showers possible.
Monday night
Rain in the far west will move a little further eastwards.
It will be milder than recent nights, and mostly frost free.
The wind in the west will also ease.
Tuesday
Eastern parts will stay dry and bright, but breezy.
Rain will spread into western Scotland, the western Midlands and southern England, but it will be less windy in the west.
Wednesday to Friday
The next few days will stay largely dry with plenty of sunshine.
For many it will turn warmer, but there will still be a cooler breeze near the east coast.
